New Covid Variant

There is a new covid variant called BA.2.86, also nicknamed “Pirola”.  It was first identified in Israel. On August 31st Ohio department of health director announced a case in his state. This variant has also been identified in Michigan and Virginia. The CDC says that the current test and medications to treat COVID-19 continue to be efficient. The CDC continues to track the new variant. It was announced by the FDA that they have just approved of new covid boosters. The new vaccines are from Pfizer and Moderna. The boosters will be given at local health departments, pharmacies, health clinics. and community centers. The CDC recommends that Americans aged 6 months and older should get the new boosters. It is unclear when the new boosters are coming out, but it should be very soon.
