This school year is ending, which means sports post-season. Lakes Highschool has many sports teams heading to leagues and post season including track, tennis, fast pitch, baseball, and golf. Boys’ soccer sadly did not make it to leagues. Track had a highly successful league meet with the girls’ team being league champion and the boys being co-league champions. Both girls’ and boys’ teams combined finished with the highest combined score of any league team that competed. In girls javelin we had a 1,2,3 sweep held by Laniyah Knox taking first D’ynazha in second and Maya Stephens in third. Laniyah broke the school record that has been held for 21 years. Maya Stephens moved up onto the top 10 list for lakes and is currently in 5th after a huge PR. Track had several athletes advance to districts and will be competing this Wednesday and Friday.  In girls’ tennis they advanced to leagues with their top 2 singles and doubles teams. Golf is currently competing in their post season in the spring.

Balancing school and sports can be stressful, but that’s why there are always people around you to help. Getting close to the end of the year is probably the most stressful part. Not only is it state testing and many finals but also state for sports which start getting competitive. It’s safe to say many students agree this is the most stressful time of the school year. We’re almost done!
