Rio De Janeiro The Christ Redeemer

On February 14, 2023, in Brazil a couple weeks ago, there was a storm and lighting stuck the famous statue that stands in Rio De Janeiro on Corcovado hill named the Christ Redeemer. The Christ Redeemer statue is a statue of Jesus Christ. The statue resembles the religion Christianity. It was created by a French sculptor Paul Landowski and built by a Brazilian engineer Heitor da Silva Costa. 

This statue has been around for a while. On February 14, 2023, the statue got struck by lightning. Well, luckily a photographer captured the amazing moment of the lighting struck the iconic Christ Redeemer statue. The photo shows a bolt of lightning hitting the head of the almost 100-foot-tall statue. The photographer snapped this picture around 6:55 pm. He took this amazing photo on a Nikon D800 camera. This photo went viral all over every social media platform. Over 20 million people have seen this photo. There have been some comments like “Mom! Thor and Jesus are at it again!”  

This has not been the first time this lighting has struck the statue before. On January 18, 2014, the statue has been struck by lightning. The lightning struck the thumb on the right hand.
