Anderson Lee Aldrich entered the LGBTQ night club, Club Q with an AR-style weapon and a handgun opening fire at Club Q in Colorado Springs, Colorado on November 20. Killing 5; who were, Daniel Aston, Raymond Green Vance, Kelly Loving, Ashley Paugh, and Derrick Rump (a memorial for these five people can see outside of the club) injuring 17 others, and 7 being hospitalized that have since been released, in which both groups suffered gunshot wounds and other major injuries. Club Q was a haven for LGBT+ people in the conservative city, and despite the tragedy, work is being done to ensure it continues to serve that community. The suspect in the shooting appeared in court November 23rd for a preliminary hearing. Aldrich is being held without bond while prosecutors work to finalize formal charges. Aldrich is being charged with 305 counts, including charges of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, assault and bias-motivated crimes causing bodily injury. Aldrich’s scheduled court date is December 6th. Aldrich is next due in court on February 22 for a preliminary hearing and is expected to be arraigned.
