On September 17, 2022, the girls’ and boys’ lakes cross-country team raced at Steilacoom Park. This was a big race, and it was a successful day for the boys’ and girls’ team. There was a total of 76 teams and 17 races. The boys’ varsity ran in the gold division and got 4th place overall. Cruize Corvin Medaled first and holds the second fastest time for the meet running a 15:01. Zander Trevino medaled 4th place with a time of 15:47. The girls’ varsity team ran in the bronze division and took 6th overall. Mila Lay medaled 8th place with the time of 22:02, and Gio Robles medaled 10th place with the time of 22:04.

There were many teams coming from all over Washington, Oregon, and Canada, we also held a youth and middle school race. There were many food trucks and volunteers selling shirts, handing out water and your race numbers. We had parents helping at the finish line taking off shoe tags and congratulating the runners. There were always teams warming up and cooling down before and after their race. There was a lot of sportsmanship between different teams when the awards were given out with fist bumps and congratulations. Everyone had a fun time at this race and the Lakes cross country did amazing as well.
