Pole Vaulters go to districts!

Michael Cosio, Reporter

The pole vaulters (AKA Pole dancers) on the Lakes High School track team are a pretty interesting group of individuals. We have fun and crank out personal records at the same time. Coach Keaton has been a great part of our success, and although he’s leaving next year, we’ll never forget the impact he had on us. A couple of the vaulters are actually competing in districts! So, make sure to congratulate the following individuals, and make sure to check out pole vault next spring!

As for the rest of the track team, the Girls team took first place in leagues, with a few unexpected twists. Abby Bailey vaulted over 9 feet, beating the Bonny Lake vaulter who was ranked above her. Kivi Johnson took 5th and final place in the 3200, which was unexpected because of her past injuries and inactivity. Leniyah Knox also got first in Javelin which helped secure the bag. The Boys placed second, which is still very impressive. Good job lancers, we wish you the best in districts!
