The West Pierce Fire & Rescue will be hosting the 2022 Youth Academy at WPFR station #21 this coming June. The academy is a two-day long program where high school students from the Lakewood, Steilacoom and University Place area can join and experience what it is like to be a fire fighter. Students can explore jobs in the fire service and learn valuable skills and discipline that can one day save a life such as CPR, Fire extinguisher safety. Eligibility requirements to join the academy include: 

• Age 14-18 years old by the first day of the Academy  
• Live or attend school in Lakewood, Steilacoom and/or University Place 
• Attend mandatory orientation on June 23rd  
• Must be able to attend both days of the Academy  

•  Parent/Guardian Consent (included in the online application) 

Deadline for the applications was on May 13th, 2022. As of now, applications are being reviewed and applicants will be notified the week of May 16th if they are accepted into the program. This years academy will be held through June 25th and the 26th.
