The Lakes Cross Country team had their League Championship meet this past Saturday. The boys team defeated Stadium, the defending league champions and a the girls team took 2nd. Cruize Corvin finished first place with a time of 15:54 as he went undefeated all season.   Zander Trevino and Brendan Oury had a 5th and 6th place finishes. Cruize, Brandon and Zander were 1st Team All League.  Liam Ryan and Evan Oroho were 2nd Team All League. On the girls side, Kivi Johnson led the Lakes girls getting 2nd place with a time of 19:39 followed by Savanna Hardman with 3rd and Victoria Lindley with 7th.  All three l received 1st Team All League honors. The team improved so much over the course of the shortened 6 week competition as nearly all the athletes had a personal record this season. In the coaches voting, Cruize Covin was named PCL Boys Athlete of the Year, The Girls Team received the PCL Sportsmanship Award, and Coach Clark was named PCL Boys Coach of the Year.

Even though this season they weren’t able to have a district or state meet in person, they are pumped to be doing a virtual state meet on the track in the next week! The varsity runners who will be competing in that race are none other than Cruize Corvin, Zander Trevino, Brendan Oury, Liam Ryan, Evan Oroho, Judah Wells, Omar Arroyo, Kivi Johnson, Savanna Hardman, Victoria Lindley, Tarike Kennington, Ashley Pitzen, Elia Aguilar, and Rylie Obergfell. Wish them luck as they compete and enter their times into the 3A State Cross Country Meet!
