Artasia, Lakes High School’s annual student art showcase, is coming up on Thursday, May 22, 2025.
Artasia will be held at Lakes, from 5-7 PM. It is an open-house style event, so come whenever convenient. Signs will help attendees get to the right place.

What is Artasia?
Lakes art teacher Debrah Shiver says that Artasia is “a celebration of a year’s worth of learning, everything from your ceramics, stained glass, drawing and painting, exploring art, photography, digital design classes, to our music program.”
If a student has taken any sort of art class, their artwork will most likely be displayed at Artasia. “Artasia is one of the single events that the mass majority of the student body will participate in” Shiver comments.

Additionally, Shiver states that the music and theatre students have opportunities to perform in the Performing Arts Center (PAC).
In the past, “we’ve had plays written by students and performed” Shiver states.
Advanced Placement Art and Design
Furthermore, Advanced Placement (AP) Art students each get their own room where they showcase their portfolio that they have been creating throughout the year.
The AP Art students must create a portfolio of fifteen pieces, all circling around a chosen theme, otherwise known as the Sustained Investigation.
Artasia is a great way for the AP Art students to practice presenting their pieces that they have spent months working on, and that deserve recognition.
AP Art student Katie Gus states, “I’m so burned out.”
Let’s celebrate the burned-out AP Art students, as well as the rest of Lakes at Artasia on May 22 from 5-7 PM.
