As of March 20, the season of spring officially started! At Lakes High School, spring means new sports and that summer’s on the horizon.

Student Perspectives
For many students, spring is a season of change and new beginnings. “I love how everything is fresh again, like turning over a new leaf,” says senior Mason Reed. “The flowers bloom and it just makes the long days feel a little brighter.”
Athletes are also excited about the season! Our spring sports kick into full gear. “It’s the best time of year for sports,” says senior Quinn Stout, starting pitcher on the softball team.
Others are simply looking forward to spending more time outdoors. “I like to read outside when it’s nice out,” says sophomore Ava Qualls. “I love when the sun is out, and I can just soak in it.”
Finally, spring also means the final stretch of the school year. With AP exams and the end of the school year on the horizon, students are balancing excitement with the pressure of exam season. “I definitely gotta lock in, but knowing summer’s coming keeps me going,” says senior Cecilee Phillips.
Whether students see spring as a time for sports, studying, or enjoying nature, one thing is for sure: this season is bringing new energy to Lakes.
