Not only did the boys qualify for state, but these fellow Lancers made it to state as well. Congratulations to Leona’a Dillingham, Makella Sweeney, Reagan Lord, Opal Johnson, Grace Bennett, Alannah Martinez, Mila Lay.
Words from Coach Clark!
This is what Coach Joe Clark had to say about Lakes making it to state, “Boys cross country placed 10th and the girls placed 20th. Essentially the same as football soccer and volleyball which all went out in the first round too). Jax Corvin was district Champion and on the podium at state. I believe that this year Lakes had the largest number of teams qualify for state in school history with 5 (football, girls soccer, volleyball, boys xc, girls xc).”
Football
The Lakes lancers football team really had their bounce back year. Last year the Lakes Lancers went 5-5, while also missing the playoffs; but this year the Lancers stepped it up going 9-2 and won the SPSL League championship. The Lancers also made it to the state playoffs, winning their first game against White River 52-0. And in the round of 16, remaining 16 remaining, the Lancers played Seattle Prep; the Lancers fought hard but ended up losing the game 14-34, thus ending their season.
Volleyball
The Lakes volleyball team did not disappoint. The Lancers went 17-15 this season and placed 4th in the SPSL League and would also qualify for the State Playoffs, where they would play Stanwood High School in the first round. They lost a hard-fought battle- losing sets 25-19 25-14 and 25-23 and thus ending their season.
Soccer
The Lakes girls’ soccer team did not disappoint having their bounce back season, with last season finishing 7-7-3. They played Bainbridge High School 1-1 and lost in penalty kicks 6-5. This year the Lancers doubled their record going 14-3-3, which would make them qualify for the state playoffs where they played Holy Names Academy and lost a hard-fought battle with an ending score of 0-5.
