Volkswagen says that drivers and passengers in the car will be able to give vocal request to the AI in their vehicle. For example, if someone says “I’m cold” the temperature in the vehicle will change. Volkswagen announced at CES 2024 (Consumer Electronic Show) that they will use ChatGPT AI in their vehicles for AI conversations. Volkswagen has teamed up with Cerence which is a software company to use its artificial intelligence platform, which will apply ChatGPT to their vehicles. Cerence Chat Pro claims that ChatGPT will not gain access to any vehicle information, which protects privacy. It is also said that the AI is able to filter out inappropriate content. At the CES 2024, Volkswagen executives requested a butter chicken recipe and ChatGPT answered but followed with a story about dinosaurs. The story was meant to entertain children in the backseat. Cerence AI will be integrated into Volkswagen’s electric vehicles. The electric vehicles that will include ChatGPT are Tiguan, Passat and the Golf internal combustion engine cars that are coming later this year.
