This Saturday is Lakes High Schools homecoming dance! Leading up to this annual dance we have a fun filled spirit week to dress up and represent our school as well as the football game on Friday night.
To start off the preparation we have a spirit week created by the lakes ASB officers and student council.
On Monday the theme was bikers vs. surfers, tons of students dressed up as bikers with leather jackets and dark clothes while others dressed in a beachy theme to resonate with the surfer vibe. Nothing to wear, no worries you could still participate by wearing blue.
Tuesday was Not Your Sport Day, instead of dressing in their usual athletic attire, the student body wore jerseys from sports that they are not a part of. Jerseys from football, volleyball, basketball, baseball, rugby, and many more were worn by a large number of students and teachers. If you didn’t have anything to wear, then wearing white was also an option.
Wednesday’s theme was dedicated to the two iconic characters Ken and Barbie. You could either choose to dress and embody Barbie’s colorful and fun flare or embody Ken’s fun and exciting clothes and style. Many chose to wear outfits inspired by the recent barbie movies. Sweatbands and a wide variety of pink were worn on Wednesday to join and fit the theme. If you were not able to come up with a specific inspired outfit wearing any pink just by itself was an option as well.
The theme on Thursday was a throwback to both the past and present because it was Decades Day at Lakes! Choose to wear some of your favorite styles from the past. All different decades were brought back, even the 50s styles were renewed and used. If you could not decide which decade was your favorite, you also had the option to just wear green.
Finally on the last day of the week leading up to Homecoming the theme was black tie blackout. The theme consists of dressing your best or whatever black dress clothes you have. If you don’t own any black fancy dress clothes, then no worries because wearing plain black will also work for this theme regardless of how fancy or fun it is.
Our final lead up to the Homecoming dance is of course our home football game. The game is at 7:00pm at Harry E. Lang Stadium against Silas High school. Be there and wear black, dont forget to cheer hard for our Lancer Football players!!
Last but not least on Saturday night at 8pm is our annual homecoming dance. The dance begins at 8pm and the doors will close at about 10pm. You can enter through the bus loop doors and will be expected not to bring anything over the size of a small purse or wallet. Make sure you don’t forget some sort of ID to the dance to properly identify you and allow you to enter. The dance will wrap up and end at 11pm. Enjoy the dance Lancers!
