Major airport in Pierce County?
January 11, 2023
There are plans to build an airport in rural pierce county.
For us here in Lakewood SeaTac is about thirty minutes away, but some state government officials believe there is a need for one here in pierce county.
Some of the areas in the plans include Graham and rural Olympia.
Some Pirce County law makers have sent letters to the state in opposition of this airport.
Many people who live in these areas are concerned as well, their homes are sitting right were the airport is planned to be, the airports could affect at least 2,000- 3,000 people and thier homes.
What are your thoughts on a major airport in rural pierce county? Is it a great idea, or unnecessary?

Sea Tac air port is only 30 min away. No need for another . what about Pain field. Let’s stay focused on this problem of people on the streets. Tell Gov Jay Inslee to leave the zoning changes alone and look for exerting vacant buildings , motels ,ECT. I have lived in Puyallup and surrounding area for the last 63 yrs. What an embarrassing place and unsafe it has become, and ohr Gov is proud. All Washingtonians should take a good look around. It’s said.

Absolutely not… utilize facilities at McChord before coming to rural areas. There is no infrastructure to support an airport. It is already a driver’s nightmare traveling on Amerindian and now Canyon with the direct Port travel.

In my opinion, it would make sense to have it in Olympia. The reason is Olympia is the state capital and it would make sense for legislators to be able to fly in and out and also for federal people to come. It would also be more equidistant with Everett, SeaTac, Olympia, and Portland. With traffic as congested as it is, saving time and fuel makes more sense.

And there needs to be an airport somewhere between SeaTac and Portland
